The management of Atenas, which play in the second football division of Uruguay, has fired Diego Forlan as their manager.
The 42-year-old Uruguayan football coach had taken helm at the team representing the city of San Carlos in March.
Under his leadership, Atenas played 12 rounds and are fifth in the current Segunda Division standings.
Forlan's contract with the club was expected to run until 2022.
