This is Raducanu’s first champion title of her career. On June 7, she played her first match in the main stage of the WTA championships. At the 2022 US Open, Fernandez made it to the second round.
This was the first final of the Grand Slam with the participation of tennis players under 20 since 1999. During the final at the US Open, 17-year-old American Serena Williams had defeated 18-year-old Swiss tennis player Martina Hingis.
