Tokyo 2020: European Gymnastics reacts to impressive performance by Armenia’s Davtyan

European Gymnastics has reflected on the brilliant performance by Artur Davtyan (Armenia) in the men's Vault qualification round in the gymnastics competition at the 32nd Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

“Just gorgeous! Well done Artur Davtyan!” reads the comment on the respective video posted on the Twitter account of European Gymnastics.

The European and European Games champion has scored an average of 14,866 points in the sum of his two jumps in his main event and is the current leader. The gymnasts who place first to eight will go to the final of the Vault.

On Saturday, Artur Davtyan competed in the qualifying round of the Pommel Horse, too, where he placed ninth and did not make it to the final of this event. The reigning European champion in the Vault, however, had scored 14,566 points, setting a personal record.

Armenia has 17 athletes competing in eight sports at Tokyo 2020.
