Martirosyan defeats Mamedyarov in first game of tie-break

In the third round of the Chess World Cup taking place in Sochi, Armenia’s representative, 21-year-old Hayk Martrosyan, playing with black figures, defeated Azerbaijani grandmaster Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the first game.

The second rapid chess game will kick off in a few minutes.

On July 19, the Armenian grandmaster was defeated in the 86th minute with black figures in the second classic game.

Hayk M. Martirosyan defeated Mamedyarov with white figures in the first classic game. He is Armenia’s last representative at the play-offs for Chess World Cup.
