Tottenham Hotspur beat Sheffield United 4-0 at home in the 34th week of the English Premier League. Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale scored a hat-trick for Tottenham.
After this win, the Spurs leapfrogged Liverpool and West Ham, which have played one less match, and rose to fifth place, with 56 points, in the current Premier League standings. Sheffield United are last, with 17 points, and have lost the opportunity to retain their place in the Premier League.
