Also, Barca’s Argentine star forward Lionel Messi, 33, became the player with the most appearances in the history of this club. He played his 768th game at Barcelona, breaking the club record set by Spain’s legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez.
After this win, Barca have 62 points and, leapfrogging Real Madrid, have risen to second place in the current La Liga standings. Leaders Atletico Madrid have 66 points, while Real Sociedad are fourth, with 45 points.
