Tokyo-2020 organizing committee president to resign after making sexist remarks

President of the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee Yoshiro Mori will resign after making sexist remarks, Japan’s Fiji channel reported.

Mori, 83, was criticized after declaring that the increase of female members of boards and federations makes sessions last longer. According to him, women speak too much, and every one of them considers it necessary to say something. Later, Mori apologized for his remarks, but didn’t resign. The Tokyo-2020 organizing committee is expected to announce his resignation on Feb. 12.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Tokyo-2020 Olympic Games were postponed for a year and will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021. At this moment, Armenia has 4 passes to the Olympics, including two passes to the Greco-Roman wrestling (Karapet Chalyan, 77 kg, Artur Aleksanyan, 97 kg), one in gymnastics (Artur Davtyan) and one in boxing (Koryun Soghomonyan, 52 kg).
