Messi, Ronaldo, football clubs react to Maradona's passing

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many other football players and clubs have reacted to the death of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona.

"It's a very sad day for Argentines and for football. He left us, but he really stayed with us because Diego is forever. I cherish the best moments I had with him and extend my condolences to Maradona's friends and relatives," Messi wrote on Facebook.

"Today I say goodbye to my friend, and the world says goodbye to the eternal genius. One of the best ever. A unique magician. He leaves very soon, but leaves a legacy without boundaries and with an emptiness that will never be filled. Rest in peace. You will never be forgotten," Ronaldo wrote.

"Thank you for everything, Diego," wrote the press service of Barcelona.

"Good luck, Diego," the Napoli press service wrote as attachment to Maradona's picture.

"The management of Real Madrid is deeply moved after hearing the news of Diego Maradona's death. Our condolences to the family and friends of the legendary football player. Maradona is one of the best footballers in the history of football, an idol for millions of fans," Real Madrid's press service wrote
