Levon Aronian remembers Armenian heroes who fell in Artsakh war

Armenia’s chess grandmaster Levon Aronian posted the following on his Facebook page on the occasion of the day of remembrance of the Armenian soldiers who fell in the Artsakh war:

“Dear compatriots,

Today we Armenians remember our deceased brave men who fought to defend Artsakh and Armenia with self-dedication.

Throughout the past 55 days, we experienced one of the most tragic moments in our history. Words can’t describe the grief in our hearts. We need to prove to ourselves that the bright future that we lost, namely the young fighters, will unite us, not break us down. After suffering, there will be hope, and we will get back on our feet.

We have learned that the only thing left for us to do is to be ready to fight. Nzhdeh and Andranik fought because they were certain that the Pan-Turkish ideology will continue and that the Turks will use all means of terrorism to relieve themselves of us. Let us be stronger than ever, and as my grandfather would say, this is simply a cloud that will pass, and we will see the sun again.

Glory to our heroes. May their souls rest in peace.”
