Armenia's junior chess team scores bronze medal at European championship

Armenia’s junior chess team has become a bronze medalist of the online European chess championship for four age groups.

Among the members are Shant Sargsyan (U-18), Arshak Melkonyan (U-16), Emin Ohanyan (U-14) and Benik Aghasarov (U-12), as reported the press service of the Chess Federation of Armenia.

The European online championship was held with the participation of nearly 800 chess players from 40 countries. The championship was held in 8 subgroups (girls and boys in the U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 age groups). There were 3 chess players representing Armenia in each subgroup. Besides the results of the participants, the points were also calculated based on the team’s game.

Based on the results of the team, Armenia’s junior chess team received a bronze medal with 26 points.

The individual chess players of Armenia didn’t score medals.
