Armenia’s chess team is competing with the Indian team during the quarterfinal of FIDE Online Olympiad 2020 (LIVE), and India defeated Armenia 3.5:2.5 in the first round.
Levon Aronian tied the match with former world champion Viswanathan Anand. Gabriel Sargsyan was defeated by Vidit Gujrathi, Lilit Mkrtchyan — to Harika Dronavalli, Hayk Martirosyan — to Nihal Sarin. Elina Danielyan beat Koneru Humpy, Anna Sargsyan beat Vantika Agrawal.
The teams will play another round. If Armenia’s team wins in the second round, an ‘Armageddon’ round will be designated.
