US to exempt foreign athletes from COVID-19 entry bans

The US will exempt foreign athletes from the COVID-19 entry bans, Reuters reported.

"In today’s environment, Americans need their sports. It’s time to reopen the economy and it’s time we get our professional athletes back to work," said acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf.

Regular championships in American soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey, as well as tennis and golf tournaments may resume in June. The US Open, scheduled from August 24 to September 13 in New York, can be held without spectators.
