Simeone: We play to win, with the weapons that we have

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone said the Champions League game against Liverpool will go down in history.

“I’m very happy for the team and the club. We’re once again amongst Europe’s eight best teams. It was a game that will go down in history against an extraordinary opponent at a beautiful stadium. Their fans supported them like our fans did at the Wanda Metropolitano. Our supporters were incredible, you could hear them throughout the match,” Ateltico website quotes SImeone.

“We play to win, with the weapons that we have. We respect our identity, the characteristics of our players and we exploit the defects of our rivals,” he said after the match.

Simeone named goalkeeper Jan Oblak “the best goalkeeper in the world”.

“Barcelona have Lionel Messi, who is their difference maker. Oblak's the best and he makes the difference for us.”

Atletico beat Liverpool 2-3 to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals.
