Machester City are following the conflict of Lionel Messi and the leadership of Barcelona and plan to offer the 32-year-old star a deal if he decides to leave this summer, ESPN reported.
Messi has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the club at the end of the season.
Messi has strong relationship with director of football Txiki Begiristain, chief executive Ferran Soriano and manager Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City is one of the few clubs that can offer Messi a wage of 50 million pounds a year.
The argument broke out between Messi and Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal after the latter said players were not working hard under former coach Ernesto Valverde. Messi criticized his former team-mate and said Abidal has to give names “because if not, it gives air to things which are not true.”
