Khoren Hovhannisyan will no longer run for president of Armenia football federation

Ani FC president Khoren Hovhannisyan will no longer run for president of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA).

He, along with the FFA Secretary General Armen Melikbekyan and Lori FC President Tovmas Grigoryan, was one of three candidates endorsed for this office.

Hovhannisyan has issued a respective statement.

"Today I met with Armen Melikbekyan, the candidate for FFA President," the statement reads in particular. “Together with Armen we recorded that we have a similar vision for the development of Armenian football. Although we have different approaches to some issues, as a result of discussion, we have come to the conclusion that, overall, we can bring Armenian football to a whole new level with joint efforts.

Based on the abovementioned, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy as President of the FFA and support Armen Melikbekyan's candidacy.”

The elections for the FFA President and Executive Committee members will be held at the FFA special meeting on December 23.
