Ռուսաստանցի Մարիա Շարապովան դուրս եկավ թենիսի ԱՄՆ-ի բաց առաջնության երկրորդ շրջան: Նրա մրցակիցը հունգարացի Տիմեա Բաբոշն էր, որը կարողացավ հաղթել միայն առաջին սեթում 7:6 (7:4): Դրանից հետո Շարապովան կարողացավ բեկել պայքարի ընթացքը եւ հաղթանակ տանել 6:4, 6:1 հաշվով:

Երրորդ շրջանում Մարիա Շարապովան կհանդիպի ամերիկացիներ Սոֆյա Քենինի եւ Սաչյա Վիկերիի դիմակայության հաղթողի հետ:
