Բասկետբոլի տղամարդկանց ԱՄՆ-ի հավաքականը նվաճեց Փարիզի Օլիմպիական խաղերի չեմպիոնի տիտղոսը։

Եզրափակիչում ամերիկացիները 98:87 (20:15, 29:26, 23:25, 26:21) հաշվով հաղթեցին ֆրանսիացիներին։

Երեք տարի առաջ Տոկիոյի Օլիմպիական խաղերում ԱՄՆ-ի թիմը եզրափակիչում դարձյալ հաղթել էր Ֆրանսիայի հավաքականին։

ԱՄՆ-ի թիմը 5-րդ անգամ անընդմեջ դարձավ օլիմպիական չեմպիոն։
