Խորվաթիայի հավաքականը 2:1 հաշվով հաղթել է Մարոկկոյի թիմին։ Գվարդիոլը խաղի հաշիվը բացել էր արդեն 7-րդ րոպեին։
Գվարդիոլն այս առաջնությունում մասնակցել է 7 հանդիպման, առանց փոխարինման։
Նա աշխարհի առաջնություններում Խորվաթիայի հավաքականից գոլ խփած ամենաերիտասարդ ֆուտբոլիստն է՝ 20 տարեկան եւ 328 օրական։
Նա գերազանցեց հարձակվող Իվիցա Օլիչի ցուցանիշը։ 2002թ․ աշխարհի առաջնությունում նա Իտալիայի հավաքականի դարպասը գրավել էր 22 տարեկան եւ 267 օրականում։
