World No. 1 Roger Federer refused to be the flag-bearer of Switzerland at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London.

The flag-bearer of the country will be Stanislas Wawrinka, Tribune de Genève reports.

To note, Federer has already been Switzerland’s flag-bearer during the Olympics in Athens and in Beijing. He believes that it is time to provide another athlete with an opportunity of carrying the national flag.

Wawrinka is a Beijing Olympic gold medalist in doubles, where he performed along with Federer.
