Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Kolesnikov said his country spent about $5 billion on Euro 2012, while only $1 was earned.

He said nearly 1.8 million people came to watch Euro 2012 matches.

“Taking into account the fact that during his stay in Ukraine, one person on average spent $ 400, plus other earnings, for the moment we can say that the event brought back the costs in the amount of one billion dollars. The total expenditure reached about $ 5 billion,” Ukrainian Pravda quotes the official.

Ukraine and Poland hosted Euro 2012.
