Borussia Dortmund: Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not a bad guy

10:56   26 August, 2016

Henrikh Mkhitaryan wanted to be at Manchester United (England) at any cost, said Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Borussia Dortmund (BVB; Germany) CEO, speaking to Der Westen daily of Germany.

He responded to the questions regarding the Armenian national football squad captain and midfielder’s transfer from the German club to the English team.

“Of course, the [Dortmund] manager wanted him to stay,” said Watzke. “But BVB does not decide everything. We were fully confident that he would stay.

“He’s not a bad guy, and he didn’t deceive [us] in the direct sense of the word. But there is a situation when different people are interested in a different way with what is said.

“But, on the other hand, we got money for him which we didn’t expect. (…) we had no choice.

“But I wasn’t disappointed that he left.”
