The main shocker at the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016, which France is hosting, came on the last Round of 16 match on Monday.

England lost to Iceland 1-2, and bid farewell to the tournament.

Iceland, which have competed in this competition for the first time, became the last quarterfinalists. They will face the host nation, France, to advance to the semifinals.

Earlier in the day, Italy defeated reining European champions Spain by a score of 2-0, and they, too, booked their spots in the quarterfinals.

The other Euro 2016 quarterfinal fixtures are: Italy vs. Germany, Wales vs. Belgium, and Poland vs. Portugal.

The quarterfinals will kick off on Thursday.
