Euro 2016: Turkey restaurants start “boycotting” pizza

09:10   24 June, 2016

Within the framework of the campaign against Italy, restaurants in Turkey have declared a “boycott” against pizza.

In particular, the selling of Italian pizzas has suspended for the past two days at Emirgan Cafe restaurant chain in Turkey, according to Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper of Italy.

In the last round of group stage in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016 which France is hosting, Italy were defeated by a score of 0-1 to Ireland, which advanced to the knockout stage from Group E, and as one of the top four third-place squads.

Had Italy not lost this game, Turkey would have made it to the Round of 16 in Euro 2016, instead of Ireland, as the third-place team from Group D.
