12:44   18 June, 2016

By defeating Turkey 3-0 at Friday’s Group D match in Euro 2016 football tournament which France is hosting, Spain have not conceded a goal in seven consecutive games in the final phase of the European Championship.

As a result, the reining European champions have broken their own record.

The last time when they had allowed a goal in the European Championship was back on  June 10, 2012, when they had played a 1-1 draw with Italy.

Also with the match against Turkey, Spain goalkeeper David de Gea broke a 50-year-old record set by legendary England shot-stopper Gordon Banks.

The Manchester United (England) goalkeeper made it five competitive clean sheets in a row since making his debut for Spain.

Banks had made his competitive debut for England in 1966 and had managed to keep a clean sheet in four games, reported Goal.com.
