Real Madrid celebrates 110 anniversary

History of the Real Madrid club started in 1902 when Madrid Football Club was founded. Spanish King Alfonso III bestowed the title ‘real’ [royal in Spanish] to the club in 1920.

Real was champion of Spain for 31 times, it is a national record, while it won Cup of Spain for 18 and the Super Cup eight times. 

Real won the League of Champions nine times, twice the UEFA Cup and once the UEFA Super Cup. It also won three times the Intercontinental Cup (World Club Championship), club’s official website reports.
