Western Armenia football team to compete in unrecognized states’ world cup

The newly formed Western Armenia football squad will participate in the 2016 Confederation of Independent Football Associations (CONIFA) World Football Cup, the tournament website informed. 

CONIFA is made up of teams that represent nations, dependencies, unrecognized states, minorities, stateless peoples, regions, and micronations not affiliated to FIFA. 

The event will kick off on May 28 in Sukhumi, the capital city of Abkhazia.

Twelve teams will compete in the 2016 ConIFA World Football Cup.

The Western Armenia football team recently played a friendly with the second team of Olympique de Marseille (France), and they lost to their hosts by a score of 3-2.

The Western Armenia football squad comprise Armenian players from several countries.
