The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has issued its rankings for December 2015.

Accordingly, Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—has advanced one place and is now sixth in the new FIDE rankings.

The Armenian GM has leapfrogged GM Fabiano Caruana (USA) in the new standings.

The reining World Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), continues to top the list.

Armenia has two more representatives in the world top 100 rankings; they are GMs Gabriel Sargissian (43rd), and Sergei Movsesian (88th).
