Eduard Soghomonyan is crowned South America champion

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Eduard Soghomonyan (Brazil) became the winner in the 130kg competitions at the 2015 South American Championship, which was held in the Argentinean capital city of Buenos Aires.

As a result, Soghomonyan also qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics, which the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro will host, informed the press service of the Armenian Wrestling Federation.

“This is the Brazilian national team’s first gold medal won at the South American championship. I thank God, who has brought me to this victory. I thank all those who helped and believed in me. May God bless you all,” the Armenian wrestler commented on his Facebook account, after his achievement.

Eduard Soghomonyan lives in Brazil since 2012. He was granted Brazil citizenship, and he represents this country in international tournaments.

Eduard Soghomonyan is a prizewinner of competitions in Armenia, he was born in 1989 in capital city Yerevan, and he had joined Team Brazil to qualify for Rio 2016.
