FIDE President: I believe Armenia will participate in Chess Olympiad in Baku

President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE), Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, believes that Team Armenia will compete in the 42nd Chess Olympiad which will take place next year in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan.

“I have met several times with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is also President of the Chess Federation of Armenia, and I wish to thank for his position,” Ilyumzhinov told R-Sport. “He has contributed to the Armenian chess player’s participation in the [recent Chess] World Cup that was held in Baku. I believe Armenia will also participate and worthily perform in the Chess Olympiad in Baku.” 

The 2016 Chess Olympiad in Azerbaijan will be held from September 17 to 30.
