Levon Aronian about Sinquefield Cup and upcoming Baku trip

Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian who celebrated victory at Sinquefield Cup on Tuesday said this was his best achievement this year.

“I usually win at least one super tournament every year,” he told chess.news.ru. “After so many defeats I had to prove myself that I am still capable to win. My psychologist is my girlfriend Ariana,” he added.

In a week Aronian will fly to Baku where he will participate in the World Cup.

“Unfortunately, it is difficult for chess players to help in the settlement of conflicts. But the musicians and other artists come to Azerbaijan as people bringing peace, and I will try to follow their lead. I will try to show that I respect the neighboring country, to demonstrate my best game and please the fans,” he said.
