Platini to run for FIFA President

12:29   18 July, 2015

President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Michel Platini, will run in the election for President of International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), reported AS.

Aside from UEFA, the North American Football Confederation, the South American Football Confederation, and the Oceania Football Confederation also support the respective nomination of the French football legend.

The FIFA President snap election day will be announced on July 20 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Joseph “Sepp” Blatter, who was elected FIFA President for a fifth term in May, will not run in the early election, and against the backdrop of corruption scandals.

And Platini wants to see Wolfgang Niersbach, President of the German Football Association, as the next UEFA President.
