DONETSK. – Armenian national football team’s and Ukraine’s FC Metalurh Donetsk’s halfback Gevorg Ghazaryan reflected on the Ukrainian league’s 2011-2012 season, which wrapped up, and expressed his views on the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2012) underway in Poland and Ukraine.

“I believe the football year was successful for Metalurh, because we qualified for the Euro League. [But] I am dissatisfied with my game. I scored only two goals in the Ukrainian championship. I am confident that I will score more goals in the next season; this is what the Armenian fans demand. If I play more effectively, Metalurh could perform better.

I play better in Armenia’s [national] squad. We lost to the Greeks because we had just returned from vacation. [But] We won easily against Kazakhstan’s team and I scored two goals. In addition, the goal I netted into Kazakhstan’s goal was recognized one of the best for the month of May.

I am rooting for the Russians in Euro 2012, albeit I consider the teams of Spain, Germany, and Holland as the tournament favorites,” FC Metalurh Donetsk’s official website quotes Gevorg Ghazaryan as saying.
