Armenia’s Aronian loses to America’s Nakamura

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian (Armenia) lost to America’s best chess player, GM Hikaru Nakamura, in the competition which ended Tuesday in St. Louis, USA.    Both GMs had drew level after the classic games, but Nakamura defeated Aronian—who is currently fourth in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions, Armenia—9.5-6.5 in the blitz games.  In this tournament, the competing GMs played four classic and sixteen blitz games.  The prize money of the event totaled $100,000.
