Armenia should take part in European Games in Baku – Olympic Committee

YEREVAN. – A delegation from the National Olympic Committee of Armenia (ARMNOC) attended, on November 21 and 22 in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku, the 43rd General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC).

ARMNOC has issued a statement with respect to this event. 

“The assembly delegates highly praised ARMNOC’s decision to participate in the general assembly held in Baku. They stressed that the Armenian side’s step is an important contribution to the establishment of peace and solidarity in the world of sports, and that it has raised the idea of the Olympic Movement to a new level.

“Within the framework of the session held in Baku, the ARMNOC delegation [also] had several meetings.    

   
“The matter of Armenia’s participation in the First European Sports Games, which will be held in 2015 [in Baku], was discussed. And the organizing side of the games yet again stressed that it will ensure the safety of the Armenian delegation. 

“Also, a decision was made to convene the 45th anniversarial [EOC General] Assembly in Armenia’s capital city, Yerevan.

“The National Olympic Committee of Armenia finds that the Armenian athletes should participate in the First European Sports Games to be held in Baku, proving once again that Armenia’s athletes can uphold the honor and standing of our country everywhere.  

“[But] ARMNOC will reach a [respective] final decision by considering the view of the representatives of the world of sports,” the National Olympic Committee of Armenia statement specifically reads.
