Azerbaijan national football squad manager Berti Vogts has quit, Championat reported.

The German specialist informed the aforesaid at his meeting with President Rovnag Abdullayev of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan.

Vogts noted that low physical preparedness continues to be the main problem of the Azerbaijani national team.

Abdullayev stated that under the German specialist’s headship, Azerbaijan earned record-breaking points in the qualifiers, and climbed all the way to the 73rd spot in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Ranking.

Berti Vogts had taken helm at the Azerbaijan national football squad in 2008.

But in their last game under Vogts’ management, Azerbaijan were defeated by Croatia, and by a score of 0-6, in the Euro 2016 Qualifiers.
