19-year-old Russian-Armenian footballer dies

Nineteen-year-old Russian-Armenian football player Grisha Simonyan, who was fighting brain cancer, lost the fight and died on Friday morning. He had undergone treatment in Germany this spring and summer, and returned to Moscow.  On September 15, Simonyan was to head back to Germany, to undergo the third phase of his treatment and recovery, but he was unable to leave due to the deterioration of his health.     He underwent surgery on Monday in Moscow, and he was in artificial coma, Championat reported. 

To note, a fundraising had been organized for Grisha Simonyan’s treatment. Subsequently, Ramzan Kadyrov, who is Head of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation and Chairman of FC Terek Grozny (Russia), had covered all treatment expenses of the young Russian-Armenian football player. Simonyan had signed a contract with the club and received the No. 59 jersey.
