FIDE: Women’s rankings will have new No. 1 after 25 years

Grandmaster (GM) Hou Yifan (China) is getting closer to topping the World Chess Federation (FIDE) women’s rankings.

The 20-year-old chess master recorded four wins and two draws at the recent European Club Championships.

Hou Yifan’s FIDE rating has reached 2,673 points, 2700chess reported.

The current FIDE women’s No. 1, GM Judit Polgar (Hungary), has a rating of 2,675 points. Polgar, 38, tops the women’s rankings since 1989, when he was just twelve years old. Judit Polgar recently announced that she will be ending her professional career.
