Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian and GM Hikaru Nakamura (USA) played an exhibition match in Saint Louis, USA.

The match was held in the Chess960—or Fischer Random Chess—variant, and the Armenian GM lost to the American by a score of 2.5-3.5.

Earlier, Levon Aronian—who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—and Hikaru Nakamura competed in the Sinquefield Cup chess tournament, which likewise was held in Saint Louis. In the end, the Armenian GM shared fourth to fifth places with GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), and the American chess master placed sixth, the last place.
