Sinquefield Cup: Aronian draws with Topalov
02:39 4 September, 2014Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian faced GM Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) in Wednesday’s Round 7 at the Sinquefield Cup chess tournament which is held in Saint Louis, USA. In the end, Aronian—who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—played a draw with the Bulgarian GM in the 40th move.
After the seventh round, GM Fabiano Caruana (Italy) continues to lead the event with a perfect record. Levon Aronian, on the other hand, has tallied 2.5 points so far, and he shares fourth and fifth places with GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France). The two GMs will play against each other on Thursday’s Round 8 of the tournament.
