Chess news on Armenian players

YEREVAN. – Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Karen Grigoryan has scored 3 and GM Karen Movsziszian tallied 2.5 points after five rounds at the chess open that is held in Sitges, Spain.

The current leaders with 4.5 points, each, are international Master (IM) Ernesto Gomez and FIDE Master (FM) Kevel Oliva, both from Cuba.

Separately, ten GMs from Russia, Ukraine, India, and Armenia are participating in the traditional Lake Sevan chess tournament, which is underway in a round-robin system in Martuni, Armenia.

After the first round, GM Sanan Sjugirov (Russia) leads the current standings. Armenian GMs Zaven Andriasian, Robert Hovhannisyan, Hovhannes Gabuzyan, Hrant Melkumyan and Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, on the other hand, have half a point, apiece, Armchess reported.
