World Championships: Manasyan is in quarterfinals

YEREVAN. – The Round of 8 competitions were held Sunday at the 2014 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships, which take place in the Bulgarian capital city Sofia. 

From Armenia’s three athletes who are still in the medal race, Zhora Hamazaryan (60 kg) and Narek Manasyan (81 kg) entered the ring on Sunday. Hamazaryan lost to his Uzbek opponent, whereas Manasyan achieved his second win by defeating Albania’s representative, and therefore he advanced to the quarterfinals. Narek Manasyan will fight on Monday to advance to the semifinals. 

Earlier, Anush Grigoryan, who is Armenia’s sole representative in the women’s competition, defeated world champion Yuan Chang in the Round of 8 and advanced to the quarterfinals, the Boxing Federation of Armenia reported.
