The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has announced its new rankings, and Grandmaster (GM) Magnus Carlsen of Norway continues to top the list.

GM Levon Aronian, who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champion Armenian national team, is still ranked second in the FIDE ratings. Aronian’s rating is still 2813, but this will reduce to 2802.2 after the tallying of the results of the Chess World Cup 2013 which was held recently in Norway.

GM Vladimir Kramnik of Russia, on the other hand, jumped from fifth to third place. But after the tallying of the results of the Chess World Cup, Kramnik will increase his rating to 2797.3 and draw near Aronian.

The Armenian national squad has four more representatives in the world top 100 rankings. They are Sergei Movsesian (51st), Vladimir Akopian (59th), Gabriel Sargissian (72nd), and Armenia’s reigning champion Tigran Petrosian (91st).
