Joao Havelange resigns over corruption scandal

Joao Havelange has resigned as honorary FIFA president amid corruption scandal.

Havelange and his former son-in-law Ricardo Teixeira are suspected of receiving bribes for granting ISL (International Sport and Leisure) rights to broadcast the 1998 World Cup matches, espn.co.uk reported.   

Havelange served as FIFA president between 1974 and 1998.
