Armenia’s Aronian defeats Kramnik of Russia

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champion Armenian national team and who is currently ranked second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Ratings—defeated former world champion, GM Vladimir Kramnik of Russia, thus received his first point after Round 2 in the Alexander Alekhine Memorial chess tournament.To note, in the first round Aronian had lost to GM Ding Liren of China. 

As NEWS.am Sport informed earlier, the first five rounds of this tournament are held between April 21 and Thursday at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, and the final four will take place from Sunday to May 1 at the Russian State Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.The prize money of the competition is 100,000 euros.
