The fourteen national teams—including the squads from Armenia, Iran, the US, Russia, and Bulgaria—that competed in the 2013 FILA (International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles) Freestyle Wrestling World Cup competition, which was held in Tehran, Iran, protested the International Olympics Committee (IOC) recommendation to drop wrestling as an Olympic sport, effective in the 2020 Olympics.

In protest of this recommendation, the World Cup participants held a banner that read, “Olympic without wrestling! never never,” in English and in Farsi.
