WTA-1000: Elina Avanesyan loses at the beginning of the tournament

World No. 65, 21-year-old Russian Elina Avanesyan got off to a bad start at the WTA-1000 tournament in Madrid. 

In the first round she suffered a crushing defeat from the 183rd racket of the world, 19-year-old American Robin Montgomery with the score 6:2, 6:2. The match lasted 1 hour and 9 minutes.

In the second round Montgomery will play with the 28th ranked Katie Boulter (Great Britain).

The prize fund of the tournament in Madrid is 7.8 million euros.
