World Chess Federation Candidates Tournament: 9th round played

The ninth round was played Sunday at the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Candidates Tournament 2024 being held in Toronto, Canada.

Santosh Gujrathi Vidit (India) defeated Hikaru Nakamura (USA). The other games ended in a draw.

Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) and Dommaraju Gukesh (India) are the current leaders, with 5.5 points each.

Fourteen rounds will be held in the Candidates Tournament, and its winner will vie for the world title against the reigning world champion, Ding Liren (China).
