Italian defender Federico Dimarco opened the scoring in the 5th minute. And Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez doubled the home team's advantage in the 81st minute.
The former captain of the Armenian national football team, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was in the starting team of Inter and was subbed off in the 84th minute.
Inter lead the current Serie A standings, with 79 points, and are 14 points ahead of Milan in second placed. Empoli are eighteenth, with 25 points.
