Rafayel Nazaryan takes helm as manager at Armenia’s Ararat

Rafayel Nazaryan has been appointed the new head coach of Yerevan’s Ararat, informs the press service of this football club.

The 48-year-old football specialist has rich coaching experience. Previously, he worked at Pyunik, Urartu, Artsakh, and BKMA clubs. Also, he managed the U19 and U21 national football teams of Armenia.

As a footballer, Rafayel Nazaryan had started his professional career at Ararat, becoming the Armenian Premier League champion and four-time cup winner with this club, from 1993 to 1997. Then he played in a number of other clubs, and also made 23 appearances the for Armenian national team, scoring one goal.

Gagik Simonyan on Tuesday resigned from the position of Ararat manager.

Ararat are seventh, with 21 points, after the 20th round of the Armenian Premier League.
