Messi equals Pele

Argentina captain and 35-year-old French PSG striker Lionel Messi equaled three-time world champion, Brazilian Pele in the number of goals at World Cups.

In the match against France, Messi scored his 12th World Cup goal. After the first half, Argentina beat France by a score of 2-0.

He scored his 6th goal at this Mundial and beat France and PSG striker Kylian Mbappe, 23, who scored 5 goals.

Messi is playing his 26th World Cup match. He broke German Lothar Matthäus' record of 25 games.
